August Fresh Press. From Hashtags to Humour
The latest social updates
Improvements aim to make it easier for professionals to manage their presence, track performance, and engage effectively with their audience.
- TikTok’s new guidelines add subtle changes for LIVE creators, AI content, and more. LIVE creators are responsible for anything that happens during their sessions – even when it involves third-party tools like voice-to-text software, real-time translation, or on-screen comment displays.
- TikTok is rolling out TikTok Go, expanding affiliate tools to include services. Creators can now earn from hotel bookings, restaurant vouchers, and local experiences. Available today in Indonesia, Japan, and the U.S. (U.S. currently limited to hotel bookings).
- Instagram starts promoting Edits features in the main feed with slides demonstrating how each feature works.
- Instagram is working on a feature called “Picks” that aims to help users find common interests.
- Google expands YouTube’s co-branded partnership ad format to App campaigns, which is now available for YouTube in-feed and Shorts app ads (more below).
What's the deal with hashtags?
TikTok begins limiting posts to 5 hashtags per post. Creators are now urged to use accurate tags to boost their reach and get more views! What about other platforms?
- X discourages the use of hashtags
- LinkedIn encourages using hashtags appropriately, but it’s not a must
- Instagram says hashtags are good content discovery, but don’t overuse them.
Juice tip: If you must use hashtags right now on your social media posts, use at least 1-3 hashtags that reflect the content
Winning Campaigns = Creativity + Fun + Disruption
- Choosing humour makes your brand memorable – people choose funny brands.
- Challenging category norms or serving overlooked audiences can give you a competitive edge.
Juice Tip: Time to rethink “safe” creative. Tap into bold themes, niche audiences, or unspoken truths. Humour works because it connects. And connection drives growth.
Drive better outcomes with reduced manual ad targeting
- Meta is driving advertisers towards broader, AI-driven campaign management.
- AI-driven efficiency means less manual targeting, as automated systems evolve in effectiveness, improving ad performance.
- Removing exclusions led to a 22.6% improvement in cost per conversion.
Juice Tip: Don’t fight the algorithm. Test Meta’s Advantage+ and lean into creative quality instead of obsessing over ultra-granular targeting. It’s working — faster, cheaper, and with less friction.
Boost iOS App ads with Google’s new tools
- High-value iOS users are the growth engine for your app campaigns.
- New ad formats are increasing engagement. YouTube Shorts co-branded ads and playable AdMob end cards encourage higher interaction with viewers.
- Improved AI-powered campaign models support target ROAS bidding and adaptive video formats to improve acquisition and performance.
- Drive campaign performance whilst maintaining privacy, with on-device conversion tracking.
Juice tip: Experiment with Google’s new iOS ad formats to acquire high-value users, boost ROI, scale app growth, and gain actionable insights — all while building trust.
